It might seemed like I had turned over a fresh and strange leaf,Nike Air Max 24-7 Mens, poking about in all the graduate collections that were immediately wearable and instantly covetable.  What is UP with this leaf?  I put it down to my withering of age, mindful of practicality and all that malarky.  I was still turning over to my old leaf from time to time and whilst there weren't many collections that took me to those far flung magical places, the ones that did therefore stood out and were etched into my brain more vividly than normal.  One of which was by Liesamarie Schulte, a Middlesex graduate.  She won the Isabella Blow Memorial award two years ago which facilitated her collection too.

The collection is called 'Holy Land', and as illustrated by her research above, the sort of iconography that Liesamarie has reference can be clearly traced to different facets of ther resulting collection - the ceremonial veils worn in different cultures, flowers imbued with different symbolic meanings, the long lengths seen in most types of religious dress.  Liesamarie said she was also inspired by lost and poetic landscapes,Monster PowerBeats Sports, a blurry statement that could well mean anything at all.  I imagine that she sees her Holy Land ensembles complete with leather armour-like boots and breastplate and nomadic boxy rucksacks perfect for wandering around these lost and poetic landscapes and that's exactly how she painted it for me as I watched her slowly wandering models on the catwalk.  There's a naive quality to the floral leather appliques on the miles of tulle and silk chiffon, purposely being crude perhaps.  That said, I love that there is this contrast between the sheer swathes of fabric over the head and as dresses with the vague and non committed flower shapes.  Coupled with the raw-edged leather pieces and wooden boxes at the back and there's a thorough conviction to Liesamarie's vision of the sort of clothes that trek through her holy land...

I quickly switched back to "Now what would I wear" mode briskly after her part of the show but for a few minutes there, she did take me to a place.  I can't say it was holy.  But at the very least, coach sunglasses, it was a place far away...
