I was at the CFDA/Vogue fashion fund dinner as I posted earlier. Vogue invited me to blog for them at the event. To even be in the same room as so many highly creative people is indescribable. A few days before the dinner Virgina Smith had helped me find a dress from their racks of styling at the office – THE office… I chose one by Yigal Azrouel. The fabric of the dress was pretty amazing, It seemed like it was made to have too much fabric and then had been pressed back onto the dress. To be at the Vogue office was exactly as in the movie ” The September Issue” and almost like “Carrie” in “Sex and the City” and a little bit similar as “The Devil wears Prada”. Oh and my nail polish by OPI in the color “Go On Green” matched the walls, so in Vogue!
Alber Elbaz held the keynote speech and I wished he would have spoken longer. It was so inspiring listening to his stories, like when he was a young man starting out in Paris, working for Yves Saint Laurent. One day he met Yves on the street, red faced and visibly stressed. Alber asked if Yves was nervous about his couture show the day after, upon which he replied, ”Yes discount coach handbags, Alber, you are only as good as your next show”. Goosebump moment!
The winner was Sophie Théallet won $200 000, and runners-up both Monique Pean and Patrik Ervell got $50 000 to get started. They will all meet regularly with a team of business mentors for guidance. I look forward to see them in the future, we all have seen how far last years winner Alexander Wang has come.
